The Erosion - Corrosion mitigation outage work in COFRENTES NPP

ABSTRACT :

After Mihama's NPP event, the fight against Erosion- corrosion and of course, FAC has been very hard. The mitigation, correction, and prediction are the tools to solve the degradation in the pipes of all NPP all around the world. In Cofrentes NPP the inspection in service section, have a program that predict and correct (preventively) the erosion and corrosion and FAC phenomenon. The description of that process and the learned lessons are the topics showed in this work. The use of the information, the measurements taken, the change of pipes and, the selection of new materials are the key to avoid event of leaks or even worse. This program is very important in Cofrentes NPP because the Technology (BWR), age of the plant and the EPU increase the phenomenon.

Carlos Gavilan Moreno Phd in minning Engineering and MASTER in Industrial Maintenance and Diagnostic is the Mechanical Maintenance and in service inspection Manager in NPP more than ten years of experience in petrochemical Engineering and maintenance.
