Pipelines and power equipment flow-accelerated corrosion damege is an urgent problem both for operating and designing NPP. Mathematical modeling of local FAC (LFAC) processes allows to help in resolving these urgent up-to-date problems, such as to determine maximum LFAC zones position in NPP pipelines and power equipment elements, ensure safe allowable valuable of FAC by way of elements design and operational conditions optimization, etc.
On the basis of long-term investigations flow-accelerated corrosion computational model RAMEK has been developped in Russia. RAMEK implements kinetic-migrational approach in LFAC modeling, that is determines local zones maximal LFAC intensity formation and their temporal development as well as LFAC zones migration alongside pipelines and NPP power equipment. RAMEK takes into account mutual influence of different factors, parameters and FAC-processes and being based on flow-accelerated corrosion physics. RAMEK implements such way of modeling that along with well-known influential factors calculates local values of mass-transport coefficient, hence defining local zones of maximum FAC-intensity.
